Here is the greeting message released by Chief Minister Vijay, honoring Ilaiyaraaja’s musical journey and the pride he has brought to Tamil Nadu:

“Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja, who stepped into the film industry through the movie Annakili and achieved numerous milestones up to world-famous symphony music, stands as the crown of the music world and continues to bring pride to Tamil Nadu. May your music continue to resonate as a guiding light and inspiration for many more generations to come. A Musical Empire Spanning Five Decades Stepping into Tamil cinema in 1976 with the film Annakili, Ilaiyaraaja touched Tamil hearts by blending folk music with Western music.

From Annakili to Symphony: The composer, who touched the emotions of ordinary, simple people, also achieved the global feat of becoming the first Asian to compose a symphony for the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Music Beyond Generations: The Chief Minister beautifully noted in his wishes that Ilaiyaraaja’s music is a “guiding light for many generations,” serving as a healing balm in joy, sorrow, and loneliness, not just for the generations of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, but also for today’s young generation known as ‘2K kids’.

Within minutes of its release, Chief Minister Vijay’s greeting post went viral on the internet. Film personalities, political leaders, and crores of Tamil hearts living across the globe are expressing their birthday wishes to their “God of Music” through social media.
