London Immortalises Shah Rukh Khan & Kajol: Bronze Statue Unveiled in Leicester Square to Celebrate 30 Years of DDLJ!

Bollywood’s most iconic on-screen couple, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, have been honoured with a grand tribute in the heart of London as their evergreen blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) completes 30 glorious years.

Made on a modest budget of just ₹4 crore in 1995, DDLJ went on to earn over ₹102 crore worldwide (unadjusted) and became a cultural phenomenon that redefined romance in Indian cinema.

To mark this historic milestone, a life-size bronze statue of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol – recreating one of the film’s most iconic poses, with SRK’s arms outstretched and Kajol smiling beside him – has been permanently installed in London’s famous Leicester Square. This is the first-ever statue of Indian film stars in the prestigious square, joining legends like Charlie Chaplin, Batman, and Harry Potter.

The grand unveiling ceremony took place two days ago, with both Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol personally present to inaugurate their statue. The event turned into an emotional celebration as thousands of fans gathered to witness the moment.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shah Rukh Khan said, “Raj and Simran don’t belong just to Kajol and me anymore – they belong to the world. The fact that 30 years later, our statue stands here in London is proof of the everlasting love of our fans.”

An emotional Kajol added, “DDLJ has become a part of our lives. This statue is the biggest honour we could ever receive.”
