A lion cub belonging to the Vandalur zoo has been named after the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa. The present Chief Minister of the state Edappadi Palaniswami on Tuesday named a six month old lioness cub as Jaya as a tribute to the former Chief Minister.
Jayalalithaa was a fond lover of the wild animals and reportedly she used to visit, enquire about the health of the animals unannounced with no publicity. Not only this, she had also taken numerous measures for basic infrastructure in the zoo. The CM also on his visit named yet another cub as Vishnu.
Two enclosures for tigers and a play area for children were inaugurated inside the zoo. Well, what more a befitting name could a lioness get!
