On Saturday, an amendment was made to the Kerala police act, according to which people who are guilty of spreading content by any means including social media which are derogatory or defamatory will be punished with three years jail time or a fine of Rs 10,000 or both.
Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that this amendment to the Kerala Police Act will not be used against free speech or impartial journalism, but this amendment has been facing huge criticism as it will silence the criticism on the government.
Now actress Kasthuri has posted an important question to Kamal Haasan, who's a strong supporter of Kerala govt, asking him his views on this amendment. Kasthuri tweeted "Respected @ikamalhaasan , How do u see @vijayanpinarayi 's Kerala police act amendment? You have frequently called out ADMK and BJP govts as authoritarian. and praised kerala as example for good governance, corona control etc. Do you still have the same views?". It has to be seen if Kamal Haasan will answer Kasthuri's strong question.
