Actor Karthi is gearing up for back-to-back releases this year with 'Meiyazhagan' and 'Vaa Vaathiyaar'. After wrapping up his current projects, he is all set to start working on 'Sardar 2', a sequel to the 2022 spy thriller that starred Karthi and Raashi Khanna as the lead pair.

The first part of 'Sardar' grossed over 100 crores, leading to the announcement of its sequel. According to the latest reports, Karthi will be paired with Ashika Ranganath in 'Sardar 2', and Raashi Khanna will not be part of the movie. A big actor is set to play the antagonist in this film, which will focus on raising awareness about drug trafficking.

'Sardar 2' is set to commence shooting in Chennai next month, with set preparations currently underway. Touted as the costliest film in Karthi's career, it is being produced by Prince Pictures and directed by PS Mithran, with Yuvan Shankar Raja composing the musical score.
