BJP announced its next set of Lok Sabha candidates on Monday, and the list included the bigwigs Kangana Ranaut and Arun Govil. In the Ramayana series, Arun Govil played the character of Ram and became a household name. The party has now given him the party ticket for the Meerut Lok Sabha seat. The party has selected Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut to make her political debut from her native Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.
In a tweet in Hindi after she met top BJP leaders, she said that she is very grateful to the BJP for considering her as the candidate from Mandi in the Lok Sabha and assured that she will continue her support accordingly. Both Kangana and Govil were present at the grand event of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, held earlier this year.
Also joining the BJP ranks are Arun Govil and Anuradha Paudwal with their entry into politics. Govil has replaced Bharatiya Janata Party MP Rajendra Agrawal in the Meerut contest, who was the MP from the Meerut-Hapur constituency for three continuous terms from 2009.
The latest list of BJP candidates has 111 more nominees for the Lok Sabha polls. During its second list of candidates, the party dropped Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, this time fielding him from Sambalpur. It dropped party spokeswoman Sambit Patra, targeting a contest from Puri. The party would drop Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, VK Singh, and MP Varun Gandhi.
