Kamal Haasan Celebrates Singeetam Srinivasa Rao’s Vision at ‘Sing Geetham’ Pre-Release Event

The pre-release event of Sing Geetham, the prestigious musical drama directed by legendary filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, was held in grand style in Chennai. Produced by Nag Ashwin under the prestigious banners of Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema, the film stars Ayaan, Ahalya Bamroo, and Shalini Kondepudi in key roles, with music composed by Devi Sri Prasad.

With the teaser and songs already receiving an encouraging response, Sing Geetham is gearing up for its worldwide theatrical release on June 11. The event became even more special with the presence of Universal Star Kamal Haasan as the chief guest.

Speaking at the event, Kamal Haasan showered praise on Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, recalling their decades-long association. He remarked that from the days of Mayabazar to Sing Geetham, the filmmaker’s passion and love for cinema have remained unchanged. Kamal revealed that he first heard the story of Sing Geetham nearly five decades ago when he was in his twenties and expressed his excitement about finally seeing the project come to life.

Calling Singeetam’s storytelling “timeless and ageless,” Kamal said that only a visionary filmmaker like him could conceive such unique ideas. He also shared fond memories of working with the director on classics such as Pushpaka Vimana and Mumbai Xpress, describing him as someone who remains ahead of even the younger generation in terms of creativity and innovation.

The actor praised the passion with which the film has been made and thanked Nag Ashwin, Swapna Cinema, and Vyjayanthi Movies for bringing the long-cherished dream project to the big screen. “Films made with passion often achieve unimaginable success, and Sing Geetham carries that same spirit,” he said.

An emotional Singeetam Srinivasa Rao described Sing Geetham as a dream he had nurtured for over 40 years. He revealed that the concept was born from a unique idea—what if every dialogue in a film became a song. Though he narrated the story to many over the years, destiny finally brought it to life under the production of Nag Ashwin and Vyjayanthi Movies.

The veteran filmmaker credited Nag Ashwin and the production team for their unwavering support and affection, stating that they treated the project with immense care and respect. He also praised Devi Sri Prasad for perfectly capturing the soul of the film through his music and thanked Kamal Haasan for gracing the event.

Music director Devi Sri Prasad called the opportunity to compose for Sing Geetham a blessing and one of the most unique experiences of his career. He lauded Singeetam’s experimental filmmaking style and revealed that transforming every spoken word into a musical expression was both challenging and exciting. DSP also highlighted that all the actors in the film have sung their own portions, adding authenticity to the musical narrative.

Veteran producer C. Aswani Dutt shared an emotional moment, recalling that he had once attempted to make a film with Singeetam nearly 26 years ago, but the project could not materialize. Seeing Sing Geetham finally take shape under the guidance of Nag Ashwin and his team filled him with pride and satisfaction.

Actress Shalini Kondepudi described Singeetam and Kamal Haasan as benchmarks for creative filmmaking in Indian cinema and expressed her happiness at being part of such a landmark project. Lead actor Ayaan thanked Singeetam Srinivasa Rao for entrusting him with the role of Pratap and called it a lifelong honor to be introduced as a hero by the legendary filmmaker.
