Devi Sri Prasad Calls Sing Geetham the Most Challenging Film of His Career

Legendary filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao is gearing up for the release of his ambitious musical drama Sing Geetham, which is set to hit theatres worldwide on June 11. Produced by Nag Ashwin under the prestigious Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema banners, the film stars Ayaan, Ahalya Bamroo, and Shalini Kondepudi in key roles, while Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music.
Speaking at a recent media interaction, Devi Sri Prasad described Sing Geetham as one of the most special and challenging projects of his career. Calling Singeetam Srinivasa Rao a true legend, DSP said he had always admired the veteran filmmaker and felt blessed to collaborate with him.
The composer revealed that the film’s unique concept instantly fascinated him. Unlike conventional musicals, Sing Geetham is set in a village where people communicate entirely through songs rather than spoken dialogue. DSP noted that such a concept has never been attempted before and reflects Singeetam’s trademark originality and innovation.
Sharing details about the creative process, DSP said every dialogue in the script had to be transformed into music, making the project extremely demanding. He explained that the entire film was One of the most intriguing collaborations in recent times, Slum Dog brings together dashing director Puri Jagannadh and versatile actor Vijay Sethupathi for a gritty pan-India action drama. The film has successfully completed production, with post-production activities progressing rapidly across all language versions. Backed by the intriguing subtitle 33 Temple Road, the project has managed to spark curiosity ever since its title announcement and striking first-look reveal. Slum Dog is produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur under the Puri Connects banner, in collaboration with JB Narayan Rao Kondrolla’s JB Motion Pictures. With anticipation steadily building, the makers are now gearing up for the next phase of promotions.
The makers have announced that the film’s teaser will be launched on June 8th. The teaser poster paints a grim picture. A blindfolded figure stands still as a blood-stained machete is held across his neck, creating a striking image that feels both menacing and symbolic. The dark, moody image hints at a brutal and unforgiving world.
Leading the cast alongside Vijay Sethupathi is Samyuktha, while Tabu and Kannada star Duniya Vijay take on crucial characters that are expected to add significant weight to the narrative. The ensemble also features Brahmaji and VTV Ganesh in key supporting roles.
National Award-winning music director Harshavardhan Rameshwar, whose work in films like Arjun Reddy and Animal earned widespread acclaim for its raw intensity and emotional depth, is scoring the music for the movie.
Slum Dog will have a Pan India release in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.musically composed before it was shot, requiring meticulous planning and coordination between the music and filmmaking departments.
Despite the challenges, the composer said the experience was immensely rewarding. According to him, audiences will eventually forget they are watching a musical and become completely immersed in the world of the film. He also praised the cast for undergoing extensive training and dedicating themselves to the film’s unique format.
DSP further revealed that veteran actor Kamal Haasan recently watched the film and was highly impressed. According to the composer, Kamal expressed admiration for the project and remarked that he would have loved to be part of such a unique cinematic experiment.
Describing the film as emotional, entertaining, and inspiring, DSP said audiences would leave theatres with a fresh cinematic experience. He also emphasized that Singeetam Srinivasa Rao’s passion and creativity at the age of 94 would serve as a major inspiration for viewers.
The composer also shared an update on his upcoming project Ellamma, revealing that a significant portion of the music work has already been completed. However, he chose to keep further details under wraps.
With its never-before-seen concept, legendary director at the helm, and music-driven storytelling, Sing Geetham is shaping up to be one of the most unique Indian films of the year.
