Prabhas' highly anticipated sci-fi epic, Kalki 2898 AD, is making waves at the global box office, surpassing the opening weekend earnings of several major Indian films. The film has crossed the $12.03 million mark in North America, outperforming titles like Padmaavat, PK, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire. It's now eyeing the records set by blockbusters such as Dangal, Animal, Jawan, RRR, and Pathaan.

However, while the film's global performance is impressive, it saw a significant dip in its domestic box office collections on Monday. After a strong opening weekend that brought in Rs 309 crore, Kalki 2898 AD earned only Rs 34.6 crore on its first Monday, representing a 60% decline. The film's total India box office earnings now stand at approximately Rs 343.6 crore, with the Hindi version estimated to have garnered around Rs 130 crore within its first five days. The film on Monday collected $838,046.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, Kalki 2898 AD transports audiences to the year 2898, following the journey of a bounty hunter navigating a complex world. The film boasts an all-star cast, including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani.

Released on June 27 in six languages – Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and English – Kalki 2898 AD was mounted on a massive budget of Rs 600 crore. Despite the decline in domestic collections, the film has already recouped its production costs within its opening weekend, thanks to its global success.

The film's phenomenal global performance and its strong opening weekend in India demonstrate the immense appeal of Kalki 2898 AD. While the dip in domestic collections on Monday may be a cause for concern, the film's overall performance remains promising, solidifying its position as a major cinematic event. Audience are captivated with the way Nag Ashwin blended sci fi elements with the happenings in Hindu epic Mahabharat.
