Just Stop Oil protestors filmed storming into a private airstrip and painting jets orange. Their main objective was Taylor Swift's private jet, allegedly in the UK for her Eras tour.
It said, "Jennifer and Cole cut the fence at Stansted where Taylor Swift’s jet is parked, demanding an emergency treaty to end fossil fuels by 2030." Police later confirmed Swift's jet wasn't at the airfield.
Flight tracking indicated Swift's Falcon 7x landed in Stansted around 11 pm the night before. The Essex Police spokeswoman said officers promptly detained a 22-year-old Brighton woman and a 28-year-old Dumbarton woman for criminal damage and interference with national infrastructure.
Stansted Airport barrier was breached by activists using a saw. They painted two airplanes orange and took photos in front of them at 5 am Thursday.
The organization said, "Billionaires ride private jets while millions live in unlivable circumstances. Many suffer from this system, which destroys life-sustaining conditions. Climate change will affect everyone, not just billionaires."
Social media has raised concerns about Taylor Swift's jet travel and carbon dioxide emissions. Jack Sweeney, a University of Central Florida student, claimed Swift flew 178,000 miles on her aircraft in 2023, prompting Swift's legal team to issue a cease-and-desist letter for "stalking and harassing behavior."
Essex Police arrested two demonstrators who invaded private aviation, according to Stansted airport. Runway operations resumed smoothly after a brief pause.
Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow promised the public they are prepared for such occurrences and will increase airport presence over the summer.
