For the first time, Joe Alwyn revealed that he and Taylor Swift broke up in 2013 after being together for a very long time. In an interview with the Sunday Times, Alwyn did honor the public's interest in his life but, at the same time, hoped that readers would be able to relate to the problems associated with breaking up with a committed partner after more than six years.

"It's not an easy thing to navigate," Alwyn said. "What's unusual is how quickly it became public, as well as how quickly the outside world weighed in."

The former couple broke up in April of the same year when Alwyn and Swift started dating in 2016. Since September, Swift has been associated with Travis Kelce, a player for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Many fans believe Swift's album, "The Tortured Poets Department," which came out in April, is filled with songs about her relationship with Alwyn. Though he did not say whether he had listened to the CD, Alwyn did note that "what is known and what is spoken will always be different. With that, I've found serenity."

Although Swift frequently made veiled references to the pairing in her music, the couple largely kept their relationship private. Meanwhile, they collaborated on several tracks for her Grammy-winning album, "Folklore."

Alwyn said he had found peace in his life since the split. "I feel fortunate to be in a wonderful place in my life, personally and professionally," he declared. "I'm feeling wonderfully well."
