Jiiva is undoubtedly one of the most talented actors around but has not had smooth sailing for the past couple of years in which none of his films hitting the chord with the audiences or the box office. Undeterred he continues to choose challenging scripts and one of them is 'Gypsy' a road movie directed by Raju Murugan of 'Joker' fame.
'Gypsy' went to the censors and the CBFC has ordered ten cuts in scenes which reportedly are critical of the politics of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The makers have appealed to the Appellate Tribunal of the Censor Board and it remains to be seen if the film will release with the cuts or be allowed to play in its original version.
'Gypsy' produced by Ambedhkumar's Olympia Movies has Natasha Singh as Jiiva's pair while popular Malayalam actor Sunny Wayne makes his Kollywood debut. Music is by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Selvakumar S.K. and editing by Raymond Derrick Costa.
