January 17, 2026 Published by anbuselvid8bbe9c60f

The wait is over for fans of pan-India superstar Prabhas! The makers of Spirit, the highly anticipated action drama directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga (of Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh, and Animal fame), have officially announced the film’s theatrical release date: March 5, 2027.
The announcement came via a striking new poster shared by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and lead actor Prabhas on social media. Prabhas captioned his post: “#Spirit is set for a World release on March 5, 2027. @sandeepreddy.vanga”. The film will hit screens worldwide in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, English, and reportedly even Mandarin, Japanese, and Korean.
Film Highlights & Cast
- Prabhas plays a fierce, no-nonsense cop in what is described as a high-voltage, gritty action thriller—his first police role and his 25th film overall.
- Triptii Dimri (who rose to fame with her role in Animal) is the female lead, marking her second collaboration with Vanga.
- Supporting cast includes Vivek Oberoi, Prakash Raj, and veteran actress Kanchana in key roles.
- Produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, the film promises Vanga’s signature intense storytelling, raw emotions, and bold visuals.
Backstory & Casting Drama Initially, Deepika Padukone was signed as the female lead opposite Prabhas, making it her second project with him after the blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD. However, she exited the film in mid-2025 due to reported creative and scheduling differences, including her insistence on an 8-hour shooting limit per day (amid her post-motherhood commitments and other demands). The issue sparked widespread debate in the industry, with celebrities and fans weighing in on both sides regarding work hours, professionalism, and actor demands.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga later addressed the situation indirectly on social media, criticizing certain “PR strategies” without naming anyone. Triptii Dimri was quickly brought on board as her replacement, adding fresh excitement to the project.
First Look & Buzz The film’s first-look poster was unveiled on New Year’s Day 2026, featuring a rugged, battle-scarred Prabhas (long hair, thick beard, bruises, and a whiskey bottle in hand) alongside Triptii Dimri lighting his cigarette. The intense, unfiltered vibe instantly reminded fans of Vanga’s Animal era and set social media ablaze with comparisons and fan edits.
An audio teaser released earlier showcased Prabhas as a rebellious, commanding protagonist, further building hype.

Box Office Expectations With Animal nearing the ₹1000 crore worldwide mark under Vanga’s direction, expectations for Spirit are sky-high. Prabhas fans are eagerly watching to see if this collaboration can deliver another massive blockbuster and push the superstar back to the top of the box office charts after mixed results in recent years.
The March 5, 2027 release aligns with festive periods (including Eid and Maha Shivratri), potentially giving it a strong theatrical window with limited direct competition.
As shooting progresses and more updates roll in, Spirit is already shaping up to be one of the biggest cinematic events of 2027. Stay tuned for trailers, songs, and more!
