Kerala has got a new votary in YS Jaganmohan Reddy. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, in his latest interview, has said that Kerala is ahead of other States in a number of parameters despite not having many major cities.
"Development has to be distributed across the State. Visakhapatnam, Anantapuram, Kurnool and Tirupati and a few other cities can become clusters of development," the YCP supremo said, adding that ports are being developed and that Central Andhra can have some agro-logistic parks.
Jagan's contention is that mega cities are unwanted and are burdensome in terms of "draining resources".
While Jagan has shown Kerala as an example, the State is hardly known for the kind of development Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Mumbai, among others, have seen. There are a lot of issues with the Kerala model.
