Telangana Prisons Director-General VK Singh, an IPS officer, is in the news for describing HMTV, the 24/7 news channel, as a "commercial sex worker". Recently, the channel reported that the top cop has been smuggling teak wood worth crores of rupees to Patna. However, the channel offered no concrete evidence to back its allegation.
Following the channel's allegations against him, Singh launched a tirade by saying that the channel is behaving like a commercial sex worker threatening officials with baseless allegations. He went on to say that sex workers are better because they don't blackmail anyone and conduct themselves responsibly. "Even commercial sex workers have objected to they being compared to HMTV reporters," the top cop said, sensationally.
Telangana Media Academy and Journalists Associations condemned the cop for making the comments. VK Singh clarified that his comments are not directed against the whole media but only against the "extortionist, liar and blackmailer" HMTV.
As per a media report, there is no truth in the report that the DG has been smuggling teak wood.
