Kamal Haasan and Shankar joined hands for 'Indian 2' the sequel to their blockbuster hit movie 'Indian' released in the year 1996. The sequel produced by Lyca Productions which started filming in 2019 has been marred by multiple roadblocks including a makeup glitch, the on-set crane accident that killed three crew members and above all the coronavirus pandemic.
Kamal is also now busy in politics and since there is no clarity as to when the shooting of 'Indian 2' can realistically resume, director Shankar has signed two movies 'RC15' starring Ram Charan and 'Anniyan' Hindi remake starring Ranveer Singh.
Lyca Productions approached the Madras High Court praying for a ban on Shankar to move to other projects before finishing 'Indian 2'. The court refused the plea in an earlier hearing. Now on a new petition, the High Court has allowed Lyca Productions to go for an appeal against Shankar directing other movies.
