In a landmark judgment, a Hyderabad civil court has upheld Megastar Chiranjeevi’s personality rights, ruling that no media outlet, YouTube channel, brand, or individual can use his name, image, voice, or titles for any commercial purpose without prior authorization.

According to a report in Deccan Chronicle, Chief Judge S. Sadiidhar Reddy stated that Chiranjeevi’s popularity and reputation are “indisputable.” The court observed that the unauthorized use of the actor’s persona – whether on T-shirts, posters, merchandise, or AI-generated content – could mislead the public and harm his reputation.

The ad-interim injunction came into immediate effect, meaning any commercial or promotional use of Chiranjeevi’s identity without consent will now be treated as a violation of law. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for October 27.

This decision marks a milestone in the protection of celebrity and personality rights in India. With the increasing use of artificial intelligence, deepfakes, and digital promotions, the ruling is expected to set a strong precedent for safeguarding the identities of public figures from misuse and exploitation.

Fans and members of the Telugu film industry have welcomed the verdict, calling it a progressive step toward protecting creative and personal integrity. Legal experts also note that this judgment could reshape how celebrity images, voices, and likenesses are used in brand endorsements and digital media.

With this ruling, Chiranjeevi’s personal and professional identity now has formal legal protection, setting a benchmark for ethical and lawful use of celebrity fame in the entertainment and advertising industries.
