The Election Commission of India today said that those who have crossed the age of 17 can now apply for voting right in advance. The Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Shri Anup Chandra Pandey today issued a statement directing the Chief Electoral Officers, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) of all States to deploy technology to process advance applications that are going to come up.
As reported by ANI, youngsters above the age of 17 years can now apply in advance for having their names enrolled in the Voter’s list. Hitherto, they have had to wait out to attain the age of 18 as of the first day of a year.
This is good news for those individuals are want to participate in the electoral process without hassles. Usually, a lot of individuals don’t get to find a place in the Voter’s list if they crossed 18 as per records only months before the elections. The General Elections have been held in April-May since 2004. In 2024, lakhs of voters will get a seamless entry.
