'GodFather' hit the screens yesterday (October 5). The news is that the film grossed Rs 38 Cr (worldwide) with ease on Day 1. Since the 'word of mouth' is positive, the film is expected to maintain its momentum in the coming days.
It was a Wednesday release and the theatrical occupancy was not optimum, given the other Dasara releases in the race. Moreover, the producers took a prudent decision not to go for a hike in ticket prices in Telangana despite elbow room. Considering the realities, the figure is impressive.
Director Mohan Raja is receiving positive feedback for adapting some portions with skill. "'Godfather' is a power-packed remake that knows the pulse of the Telugu audience. Chiranjeevi puts the failure of 'Acharya' behind and surges ahead," our review of the movie said.
Nayanthara's performance, besides the able one pulled off by Satya Dev, needs to be commented. Nirav Shah's cinematography, Puri Jagannadh's extended cameo, and the sub-plots involving Anasuya and Divi Vadthya have been mentioned as highlights.
