An FIR has been registered against the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) leader Aishe Ghosh and 19 others for vandalism.
The complaint was reportedly filed against Aishe Ghosh, the JNUSU president, by the JNU administration on Sunday evening as the 20 students were accused of destroying the server room on Saturday. This allegedly happened a day before the masked goons barged into the university campus and barbarically attacked the students and professors, 35 of whom were later admitted to the AIIMS. The picture of Aishe Ghosh, whose face was streaming down with blood, went viral on social media, following which widespread protests erupted across the country against the attack. Aishe Ghosh has alleged that ABVP men from JNU and outside the campus, as well, were the ones who assaulted the students.
"They first vandalized a car parked nearby before besieging us. My sister managed to escape, but my friend and I were caught by the mob. They first struck me on my head with a rod before kicking and thrashing me. I screamed at them that they couldn’t do that, but they didn’t stop," she reportedly said. The left-leaning JNUSU and the RSS-affiliated ABVP have blamed each other for the attack.
