US President Donald Trump has claimed a win in the Presidential elections, whose results are yet to be announced. On Wednesday, he tweeted, "I will be making a statement tonight. A big WIN!"
In a subsequent tweet, the Republican incumbent wrote, "We are up BIG, but they are trying to STEAL the Election. We will never let them do it. Votes cannot be cast after the Polls are closed!" This tweet was marked as 'misleading' by Twitter.
Trump's 'Big win' tweet has become controversial. Commentator Billy Ray tweeted: "We've been braced for this moment for months. It's here. So remember: liars don't suddenly become truth-tellers. Whatever he says, THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE. Make some popcorn, have a drink, go to sleep, whatever. But hang in there."
Meanwhile, his rival Joe Biden has appealed for patience as ballots continue to be counted in several key states. He has been quoted by NPR as saying that it is not his place or Donald Trump’s place to declare who has won this election. “That’s the decision of the American people," he wrote.
