Five young directors who impressed Shankar the most

Director Shankar has completed fifty percent of the shooting of his dream project 'Indian 2' which is the sequel to his 1996 blockbuster hit movie. The film stars Kamal Haasan reprising his role as Senapathy whilst Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Bobby Simha, Siddharth, Vivek and Manobala among others costar. The film produced by Lyca Productions has music score by Anirudh Ravichander.

Shankar in his recent interview has shared that the directors among the younger generation who have impressed him the most are all critically acclaimed. His picks are Vetrimaaran, Lokesh Kangaraj who is now helming Vijay's 'Master', H. Vinod who is directing Thala Ajith in 'Valimai' and Arun Prabhu Purushothaman of 'Aruvi' fame.

Shankar's fifth choice is the young female director Haleetha Shameem who delivered the pathbreaking anthology film 'Sillukarupatti'. The 'Endhiran' director reserved highest praises for Haleetha's attempt to shoot a part of a film 'Minminigal' with children and then wait five years for them to grow up to shoot the remaining portions.
