Director Hari is known for his movies glorifying the police department and has done three with Suriya in the ‘Singam’ series and two with Vikram making ‘Saamy’ and ‘Saamy 2’. The recent sensational cases of father-son duo Jeyaraj and Fenix dying under mysterious circumstances after being taken into custody for a minor lockdown violation case has apparently affected Hari and he has expressed his angst in a statement.
Hari in his statement condemning the Jeyaraj-Fenix death has written in Tamil “Another incident like the Sathankulam deaths should never happen to the Tamil people. One way to do that is to give the most severe punishment to the accused. The mistake of a few cops has tarnished the image of the entire police department. I regret making five movies (Singam, Singam 2,Singam 3, Saamy and Saamy 2) that glorified the Tamil Nadu police.
Hari is gearing up to direct Suriya in his next movie ‘Aruvaa’ which has Raashi Khanna as the heroine and D. Imman as the music director. The COVID 19 pandemic has put the project on hold for now.
