Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the lockdown has been imposed which has affected the theatre business as well the film industry. In the current situation where theatres are unable to reopen, many movies have been opting for a direct OTT release.

After the release of Jyothika starrer Ponmagal Vandhaal and Keerthy Suresh starrer Penguin on Amazon prime video, recently, Gayathri Raghuram's Yaadhumagi Nindrai was released on Zee5. Now, another female centric movie has opted for a direct OTT release.

Danny starring Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and directed by debutant Sathyamurthy will have a direct OTT release on Zee5 platform soon. The movie which has music by Santosh Dayanidhi also stars Yogi Babu and Vela Ramamoorthy and has a dog playing an important role and the film deals with the bond between a dog in the dog squad and a Police woman played by Varalaxmi.
