Deputy Inspector General of Police Roopa, who exposed the luxurious life that Sasikala and Ilavarasi were leading in the high-security Parappana Agrahara Prison complex in Bangalore, has sent an RTI query to the Prisons Department to know the status of her complaint filed with the anti-corruption Bureau.
Sasikala, the former aide of former Tamil Nadu chief-minister Jayalalithaa, was spotted in a video taken inside the prison going for shopping in civil clothes and enjoying facilities such as special kitchen, cooking ware, etc., which are denied to her as she is serving ‘rigorous imprisonment’ for four years after being found guilty in the misappropriation of assets case.
The then Prisons DIG Roopa, who had found out and exposed the wrong-doings, had accused the then DGP Rao of having taken Rs.2 crores from Sasikala to allow her to enjoy many concessions. The anti-corruption bureau of the Govt. of Karataka, which took up interrogation into the complaint, recommended shifting of Roopa to another place to facilitate its inquiry process.
It is in this backdrop that Roopa has shot off an RTI query (under the Right to Information Act, 2005) seeking details about action taken on her complaint.
