A press meet was held today to promote the October 17 mega release 'Vada Chennai' directed by Vettrimaaran and starring in and produced by Dhanush.  Speaking at the occassion Dhanush revealed that Vettrimaaran started the film with Simbu playing the lead character Anbu and offered him the character Kumaru now played by Ameer.

Dhanush shared that he refused the supporting role of Kumaru that would have 40 minutes screentime explaining to Vettrimaaran that he was not that magnanimous.  However the due unforseen circumstances the project was dropped and after four or five years it restarted with Dhanush as hero and has been completed.

'Vada Chennai' a Santhosh Narayanan musical comprises of the ensemble cast of Dhanush, Aishwarya Rajesh, Andrea Jeremaiah, Ameer, Kishore, Samuthirakani and Daniel Balaji.
