‘Republic’, which hit the screens on October 1, is going to be turned into a franchise. Director Deva Katta and Zee Studios are already engaged in the writing process. The ‘Prasthanam’ director has told IndiaGlitz that he is surely considering Pawan Kalyan for the second edition.

“‘Republic’ has acquired cult status and it would be great if is made into a franchise. The second part is going to be something related to the system or politics. We are mooting a couple of ideas. An engaging story has to be built around systemic change. The protagonist has to be either a politician, a bureaucrat, or a judicial member,” the ‘Vennela’ maker said.
He added, “I am thinking of casting Pawan Kalyan garu as the leading man. I might approach him. Everything is possible now. I am open.”
Katta didn’t approach the ‘Bheemla Nayak’ star for the first part, as he was scared that he might not be able to handle such a mass star. “When Sai Dharam Tej listened to the story, he felt that it suits Kalyan garu more. But I was not confident enough. I must be able to satisfy his fan base. I didn’t want any changes to be made and spoil the soul of the story. If the story is exciting, ‘Republic 2’ might happen with him,” Katta said.
