While addressing the Rajya Sabha earlier today, Union Minister Amit Shah moved a resolution to scrap Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, which grants special status to the state. "Not all provisions of Article 370 will be applicable in Kashmir," he announced.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that his party backs the decision of the Central Government to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution as well as moving a bill that proposed bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories - Jammu and Kashmir division and Ladakh. " We support the government on its decisions on Jammu and Kashmir. We hope this will bring peace and development in the state," Arvind Kejriwal's post read.
Article 370 specifies that except for defence, foreign affairs, communications and matters specified in the Instrument of Accession of Jammu and Kashmir, the Parliament needs the state government's ratification for all other laws.
We support the govt on its decisions on J & K. We hope this will bring peace and development in the state.
