Maha Gandhi is an actor from Saidapet, Chennai. Before the last few months, Maha Gandhi has filed a defamation suit in the Saidapet court in Chennai alleging that actor Vijay Sethupathi spoke disparagingly of him and misrepresented his caste when they met at Bangalore airport.
Now, the court has issued the main order in the defamation case registered against Vijay Sethupathi. The 9th Metropolitan Rights Court in Chennai Saidapet heard the case and ordered Vijay Sethupathi and his manager Johnson to appear in person on January 4 to give an explanation.
At this point, Vijay Sethupathi's side lodged a case at the Chennai High Court seeking quashing of the summons and dismissing the case, which was registered for publicity. The case came up for hearing before Judge Nirmal Kumar today. Vijay Sethupathi's side argued that a case had been registered seeking Rs 3 crore in damages for publicity.
Vijay Sethupathi's side also added that the case should be dismissed and fined. However, Maha Gandhi's side was explained that the case was not registered for publicity and they lodged a complaint because the actor had insulted his party. Following this, the judge adjourned the case to January 11 for a final hearing.
