Lhamo Thondup, the 14th Dalai Lama celebrates his birthday today. Dalai Lamas are monks of the Gelug school, the school of Tibetan Buddhism, which was headed by the Ganden Tripas, and the current Dalai Lama was selected in 1937 and formally recognized as the 14th Dalai Lama in 1939.
On eve of his birthday, actor and Makkal needhi maiam president Kamal Haasan shared a photo of himself with Dalai Lama, and tweeted "His wisdom will not die and should not. History might repeat itself in ignorance. Wisdom will and should and yet improve. Hence many more happy returns @DalaiLama".
The photo shared by Kamal Haasan was taken in 2015, when the actor met the Buddhist monk, in November 2015. As said by Kamal Haasan, when he met Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader suggested Kamal to use cinema as a medium to spread ahimsa.
