The coronavirus updates for today in Tamil Nadu yet again records the highest single day spike of 6993 new cases taking up the total number of patients to 2,20,716 so far. The death toll has risen to 3571 with 77 new deaths in the past twenty-four hours.

With 1138 new cases Chennai is maintaining its average of the past ten days with total cases touching 95857 and 2032 deaths. Among the other districts data Chengalpet and Thiruvallur have reported 400+ cases, Coimbatore, Kancheepuram, Tuticorin and Virudhunagar- 300+ cases and Kallakurichi, Kanyakumari, Madurai, Ranipet, Theni and Thiruvannamalai- 200+ cases.

On the positive side 61,342 persons were tested today taking up the total of tests to 24,14,713 and is continuously leading in numbers among all Indian states. 5723 patients have been discharged today taking up the tally of recoveries to 1,62,249.
