The official coronavirus update has Chennai once again in the red as 480 new cases out of the Tamil Nadu's 639 are from the capital city today. At 11224 cases the state has now crossed eleven thousand mark and Chennai stands at 6750. Out of the 639 new cases 81 are passengers who came from other states. Maharashtra- 73 Karnataka- 2 Rajasthan- 2 Telangana- 3 and Andhra Pradesh- 1. Four persons have lost their lives in the last twenty four hours taking the death toll to 78.

On the positive side 634 patients have been discharged today taking the total number of recoveries to 4172. Zero cases have been reported from Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, Namakkal and The Nilgiris.

13, 081 samples were tested today out of the 3,26,720 samples tested so far. 3,11,621 persons have been tested till date. Of the 11,224 cases, 7343 are male, 3878 female, 3 transgenders and 663 children under the age of 12.
