It was reported recently that the wife of the coronavirus affected Bangalore based Google techie had escaped quarantine and was later found to be Corona virus positive. Now, an FIR has been filed against the woman's father for misleading officials and hiding her whereabouts.
As per reports, the wife of the Google techie, and her father were booked under Epidemic disease act 1897, for not cooperating with the officials and providing false information. The techie's wife had been in isolation in railway hospital and even before the test result of her samples arrived, she escaped and went to her parents' home in Agra.
The techie's father in law lied to the health officials and had said that she had left to Bangalore, but after the police intervention, he confessed, and all her family members have been moved for quarantine. Besides the Epidemic Disease Act 1897, they are also charged under sections 269 and 270 of the IPC for unlawful and negligent act that could spread the infection, and if proven guilty, can be jailed for 6 months to 2 years.
