There is talk of Aishwarya Rai or Rani Mukherjee acting in "Jaggubhai", which will mark the return of Rajnikanth to the silver screen.
Aishwarya Rai made her film debut in a Tamil film called "Iruvar" directed by Manirathinam which had Malayalam star Mohanlal and Prakash Raj in the lead role. She also acted in director Shankar’s "Jeans", which was shot in seven wonders of the world. She followed it with cinematographer turned director Rajiv Menon’s "Kandukondein Kandukondein".
For Rani, however, it will be her first full-fledged role in a Tamil film.
The only Tamil film she has acted in so far is Kamal Haasan’s "Hey Ram" where she played the actor’s Bengali wife. She played the female lead in "Saathiya", the Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam’s Tamil hit "Alai Payudhe".
There has, however, been talk of her reluctance to act in a Tamil film under Ratnam, though she has refuted such reports.
If she does sign up for "Jaggubhai", Rani may be following in the footsteps of her famous cousin, Kajol, who hit it off with the Tamil audiences with her performance opposite Prabhu Deva in "Minsaara Kanavugal", made in Hindi as "Sapney".
