To some, 'Geetha Govindam' is a regressive film that is nothing but an apologia for a creepy character (played by Vijay Deverakonda). Some opinion pieces have trashed the blockbuster, describing how it's misogynistic as it normalizes stalking, caressing, etc.
Rahul Ramakrishna, who plays the hero's friend in the rom-com, has done something that no one from the industry would have done. He has plugged an article critical of 'Geetha Govindam', an article that says that the film is "sexist and patriarchal".
Sharing the piece, the 'Arjun Reddy' comedian wrote, "Sharing this, not just to make a point, but also as an exercise in self-criticism. Along with revelling in compliments, one must share criticisms received for one’s work. P.S- you don’t have to be a filmmaker to critique a film, a moral stand is necessary."
It may be mentioned that it's Rahul's character which stirs Deverakonda's character into kissing Geetha (Rashmika Mandanna) in the bus without her consent.
