A traffic police officer in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore was caught assaulting a Swiggy delivery boy at a traffic junction on Avinashi Road. The constable reportedly further took his bike keys and phone, besides damaging his motorcycle.
The incident happened on June 3 when the 38-year-old Swiggy delivery partner, identified as Mohanasamudram, tried to stop the driver of a private school bus from driving negligently. This led to intervention from traffic police constable Sathish, who verbally and physically abused the man. This was recorded by a bystander who shared the video on social media. Following a complaint registered by Mohanasamudram against the officer, he was arrested and suspended from duty.
“A cop regulating the traffic at the signal came to the spot, snatched my mobile phone and damaged my earphones. He then slapped me repeatedly. I didn’t know what to do and started crying in full public view,” the 38-year-old was quoted as saying by a news agency.
"This happened yesterday evening at the fun mall signal and there was a slight traffic block due to this delivery boy and all of a sudden this Cop Started beating up the Delivery person "
