Who wouldn't want Chris Evans returning to the MCU as Captain America? While the fans were eagerly waiting for the return of their superhero, Evans kept a full stop to all the expectations with a single-line tweet. It came soon after reports emerged that claimed Chris might be seen reprising his shield-wielding superhero in the franchise’s fourth instalment.
Chris Evans took to Twitter and broke the news on July 9. His one-line tweet broke millions of fans' hearts who were excited to see him return as Captain America. Chris Evans wrote, "Sam Wilson is Captain America (sic)."
Chris was first seen as Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011. After playing the part in 10 films, the actor has decided to not return. He passed the baton to his friend in the MCU, Sam Wilson AKA Anthony Mackie.
Anthony Mackie, along with Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier) came back in the character in the Marvel web series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which followed his journey of proving his mantle to take up a new responsibility.
With rumours that Captain American 4 would begin production shortly under Julius Onah's direction, it is now certain that Anthony really is the new Captain America and Chris Evans has formally stepped down from his role as the First Avenger.
