Chiyaan Vikram's maiden dual role flick 'Iru Mugan' released in a whopping number of screens across the globe yesterday (September 8). The film was released on a Thursday which is an unusual phenomenon in Kollywood.
Despite this, the film directed by Anand Shankar has taken a fantastic opening all over and has collected around Rs.5 crores from the theatres across Tamil Nadu.
In the prominent areas such as Chennai, Chengalpet and Coimbatore referred to as 3Cs in film distribution circles, 'Iru Mugan' has performed exceptionally well.
In the vibrant capital city Chennai, the film is reported to have collected approximately Rs.58.73 Lakhs. In Chengalpet, which is considered as the largest distribution area in the state the film has collected Rs.1.20 crores in a single day. In Coimbatore the estimated day 1 collections stands at around Rs.80 Lakhs.
In the next three days of the weekend, the film is expected to collect a huge sum and get an outstanding opening in Tamil Nadu as well as other locations.
'Iru Mugan' stars Vikram in the dual roles of a rough and tough RAW agent and Love an eccentric scientist who is an international criminal. Nayanthara has acted as the stylish and suave heroine who is also a RAW agent and Nithya Menen has acted in an important supporting character. Harris Jayaraj has composed music for this action thriller produced on a grand scale by Shibu Thameens.
