Earlier on Thursday, the YCP government announced that the Kurnool airport will be named after Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, the legendary freedom fighter who hailed from the district. In 2019, Chiranjeevi acted in a patriotic period drama titled 'Sye Raa', which was billed as a biopic on Reddy, who lived in the 1840s.
Taking to Twitter, the Megastar thanked Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy for choosing the name. "Heartened & Overjoyed at the Hon'ble CM @ysjagan 's announcement naming #KurnoolAirport after the first ever Freedom Fighter of India #UyyalavadaNarasimhaReddy," the actor wrote.
He further added, "Much deserved recognition to the greatest patriot & unsung Hero. Was fortunate & honored to play the great soul on screen."
The film was directed by Surender Reddy and produced by Ram Charan.
