A day after the YS Jaganmohan Reddy government made it clear that the cinema ticket prices won't be revised upwards in Andhra Pradesh, Megastar Chiranjeevi today took to social media to make a sincere appeal.
In his Telugu-language statement, the 'Acharya' actor addressed the Chief Minister and opined that the sustenance of the Telugu film industry necessitates the upward revision of ticket prices in a reasonable way. "If GST is collected at a certain rate across the country, it makes sense that ticket prices, too, are in keeping with the prevailing rates in the rest of the country," the 'Bholaa Shankar' actor wrote.
He added, "I urge the government to please think about the request. Only then (if the ticket prices are competitive) will the industry sustain itself."
Chiru started out the statement by appreciating the efforts to bring transparency in the sale of tickets. He added that it was the request of the film industry to introduce online ticketing.
