Chaavu Kaburu Challaga presents me in a new way: Lavanya Tripathi

Lavanya Tripathi is paired up with Kartikeya Gummakonda in 'Chaavu Kaburu Challaga', which will hit the screens on March 19. Ahead of its interview, the actress talks about how the movie happened to her, her expectations from it and more.

This is your second movie this month. How are you looking forward to the release of 'CKC'?

'A1 Express', which released on March 5, has been a hit. Since I have been busy, I am yet to revel in the success of that film. Coming to 'CKC', it is coming from the stable of Geetha Arts, which has given me a couple of box-office hits already before. People say I am a lucky charm for the banner. But it is true that it is as much a lucky charm for me. The banner has had a great strike rate at the box-office.

How did this film happen to you?

Producer Bunny Vasu happened to tell me about the story of the movie. When he gave a brief narration, I was not yet part of the film. I felt that the film is progressive. The female lead is a widow and I was curious to see who would be playing the role. This is also when debutant director Koushik Pegallapati happened to tell the producer that I would be apt for the role. Since I had liked the story, I immediately accepted to do the film.

It seems you are not wearing make-up in the film. Isn't it?

My skin had to be tanned, given the coastal town backdrop of the movie. So, to that extent, I had to wear make-up. For my first movie, 'Andala Rakshasi', I didn't wear make-up.

What is your character like in the movie?

She doesn't make her thoughts and feelings overt. She is so unlike the real me. To this extent, she is completely different from Lavanya in 'A1 Express'.

Basthi Balaraju, played by Kartikeya, seems to be an interesting character. Tell us about his character and how it was to work with the 'Rx 100' actor.

Basthi Balaraju (Kartikeya) is not narrow. For that matter, 'CKC' doesn't make a song and dance about the issue of the heroine's widowhood. The film delivers its central message while entertaining the audience. To this extent, it is in the zone of a 'Shankardada MBBS'. Coming to Kartikeya, he is going to have a landmark movie with 'CKC'. The story is told from his perspective.

How was it working with a debutant director?

I have always loved to work with debutant directors. Koushik has got a lot of clarity. He doesn't get satisfied with a shot easily.

Have you dubbed for your character?

I haven't. Although I showed interest in dubbing for the character, the director and producer couldn't find time to let me do that.

You have played serious roles for the most part of your career, barring films like 'Bhale Bhale Mogadivoy'. Do you enjoy playing comedy roles?

I enjoy playing comedy roles. I feel that I can be the real me when I get comedy roles. In real life, I tend to make a sad person laugh. I am a comedy piece, but don't make this a headline (laughs).

What are your upcoming movies?

Besides a Telugu film, I am doing a crime thriller in Tamil. I am listening to a lot of scripts these days.
