We had already updated you that MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings clinched their 4th IPL trophy last night at Dubai International Stadium. The cricket carnival IPL concludes with the magnificent CSK side registering a phenomenal comeback from their forgettable season in 2020.
Meanwhile, the skipper Dhoni has hinted about his presence in CSK in 2022 during the post-match presentation. Speaking to Harsha Bhogle, Thala confirmed that he hasn't made plans yet and will be taking a final decision after BCCI announces rules for the mega-auction for IPL 2022. Dhoni has struggled with the bat but has excelled on the captaincy front and has made CSK the powerhouse it is today.
Harsha Bhogle asked Dhoni about his plans for next year. Dhoni smartly took the conversation to "It depends on BCCI with two new teams coming in." Harsha stopped him and said, "no MS, it's between you and CSK". Dhoni then says "Well it's not about me playing for CSK, it's about what is best for CSK. The core group that can carry the team for 10 years. Now we need to see what is best. Harsha then asks and tells him about the legacy he has left behind at CSK. Dhoni cheekily waits for the sentence to be completed and responds Well, I still haven't left behind (smiles)."
The CSK skipper also said if any team deserved to win the IPL 2021 title it was KKR and also pointed out that the break helped the Eoin Morgan side. Thala Dhoni has led CSK in all 12 seasons that they have been part of the IPL. He has led them to a staggering nine finals and four titles and is one of the most successful captains in the history of the league. We have to wait to see if MSD continues in yellow as a player or a coach or a mentor.
