A brother-sister duo allegedly got married in Punjab in order to get an Australian visa for the sister.
The brother is reportedly a permanent citizen of Australia and the sister used the Australian visa of her cousin to substantiate her marriage with her brother at a Punjab court. The authorities in Australia were duped in the process as well into giving her a spousal visa. “They have cheated the social system, legal system and religious systems, all for the craze, wish and desire to go abroad. We are conducting raids but they are on the run and we have not been able to arrest anyone,” an investigating inspector said.
The official added that while the police have seen a wide range of scams by people to try and acquire a visa, a brother and sister getting married was a first.
