Presenting the Budget, interim Finance Minister Piyush Goyal today said on the floor of the Parliament that the menace of piracy will be fought through a new provision in the Cinematography Act.
“Anti-camcording provision to also to be introduced to Cinematography Act to fight piracy,” he said. ” A single window clearance for filmmaking will be introduced to filmmakers,” he added. The second one will go a long way in easing stubborn things for the film industry.
“Employment rate in the industry is high,” Goyal said.
Recently, several Bollywood personalities met Narendra Modi to request him to take steps for controlling piracy. The PM promised them firm action on this front. And the Budget speech only shows that progress will be made on the issue.
These moves are in addition to the recent decision to reduce GST on cinema tickets.
