Breaking! Srikanth Addala to direct Venky’s next

Speaking to senior journalist TS Sudhir, producer D Suresh Babu has said that Srikanth Addala will wield the megaphone for the Telugu remake of ‘Asuran’. “Addala has already worked with Venky in the past (on ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’),” the elder brother of the ‘F2’ actor said.

The film’s backdrop is yet to be decided.  The Tamil original, starring Dhanush in the lead, was set in a region where caste inequities are stark.

The remake will be a huge challenge for Venky, whose image is that of a cool, family hero.  It’s laudable that the versatile ‘Venky Mama’ actor has taken up a difficult role instead of going in for a safe, simple project.

As for Addala, his sensibilities are unique.  May he make a thorough comeback with this remake!
