The time loop thriller 'Maanadu' starring Simbu and SJ Suryah is a game-changer in Kollywood. The political sci-fi movie has taken a record-breaking opening at the box office. Now, the film has courted controversy as a right-wing party politician accused Maanadu of inciting religious violence.
Maanadu revolves around a Muslim youngster trying to stop the assistant commissioner from framing a Muslim person for the Chief Minister's assassination. Vellore Ibrahim, the BJP Minorities Team National Secretary told the media today that the movie should be banned.
In today's press meet, Syed Ibrahim said, "Maanadu film portrays the police as terrorists. It spreads misinformation about the Coimbatore bomb blast. The movie is set to disrupt Hindu-Muslim unity. Religious symbols are used to glorify the film, and the scenes are set to incite violence. The Chief Minister should intervene in the matter of the Maanadu film and the controversial scenes should be removed."
"The Tamil Nadu government should ban Maanadu. The BJP will fight if the film is not banned, the protest will be held soon before the house of the director and actor of the movie. Law and order in Tamil Nadu are very bad.The police in the hands of the Chief Minister is inactive. Police are not taking action on the BJP complaint," he further added.
