The Tamil remake of Vijay Deverakonda’s Arjun Reddy was filmed by Bala as Varma, starring Chiyaan Vikram's son Dhruv Vikram and Megha Chowdhury in the lead roles and had music scored by Radhan.

However after the completion of the film the film’s producer, Mukesh Ratilal Mehta of E4 Entertainment expressed dissatisfaction over the product delivered by Bala and scrapped the version. Later the movie was again made and released as Adithya Varma directed by debutant Girisaaya.

Recently there were speculations that producer Mukesh Ratilal Mehta will be releasing Bala’s version of Varma on an OTT platform. It was also rumoured that Amazon Prime Video has acquired the streaming rights of Varma and will premiere it on November 13 for Diwali festival. However this news has been refuted to be a rumour by producer Mukesh Ratilal Mehta calling it a false news, by responding to a tweet.
