The relationship between maestro AR Rahman and renowned playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam was special and loved. Their artistic journey began in 1992 with the timeless masterpiece "Kaadhal Rojave," and ever since then, they've always wowed people with how well they work together. But SP Balasubrahmanyam's untimely death in 2020 put an end to their great work together, leaving a hole in the hearts of music fans all over the world.
Together, they gave their fans songs that will last forever, like "Anjali Anjali," "Maya Machindra," "Vetrikodi kaatu," , "Thoda Thoda" , "Oruvan Oruvan" and "Minnalae." Their live performances also brought in a lot of fans. The duo's last show couldn't happen, which was a shame. Even though they talked about it a lot, SPB's untimely death kept the dream from coming true.
Rahman said, "In January 2020, I heard a tape of him singing 'En Kadhale,' and it sounded exactly the same. We were almost done planning the recording, and the setup was set. Then Covid-19 came along. We thought that praying for him would help. We shouldn't be sad about his death; instead, we should honour him."
Rahman called SPB a "superman" and was amazed by his ability to play 40,000 songs, which is something that few people can do in their lifetimes. He remembered with fondness the early days when he worked with SPB as a technician in the Telugu business and saw the singer's amazing talent and hard work.
SP Balasubrahmanyam died on September 25, 2020 due to COVID-19. People thought of him as one of the best male backup singers, and his beautiful voice was used in songs in 16 different languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil. He gave his voice for the South Film Industries most of the prominent actors. He holds Guiness world record for singing most of the songs. SPB gave us songs which will be treasured by the generations to come.
