A popular television actor was arrested early this morning following a shocking police complaint by his actress wife which has caused a sensation in the film and television industry. The actor in question Karan Mehra is well known for his portrayal of a model husband and father in the long-running Hindi serial "Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai".

Karan Mehra 38 is married to actress Nisha Rawal also has a few serials and films to her credit apart from several modelling assignments. The couple dated for six years before tying the knot and have one child. Nisha had lodged a complaint on Wednesday night at the Goregaon Police that Karan beat her up badly and that he pushed her head into the wall severely injuring her.

The police then arrested Karan and granted him bail a little later after warning him and he had given an undertaking that he will not repeat the mistake. He has been booked under Indian Penal Code sections 336 (endangering human life or the personal safety others), 337 (causing hurt by an act which endangers human life), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
