One of the Tamil cinema's biggest hits and most memorable films is 'Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya' directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon released in the year 2010. The film had music by A.R. Rahman while Simbu and Trisha played starcrossed lovers Karthik and Jessie respectively.

Actor Jai has opened up that he was approached for the role played by Simbu in 'Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya' but missed out on it due to his busy schedule at the time. He expressed his regret and opined that if he had starred in the film his career graph would have been very different.

Jai's new movie 'Pattamboochi' has him in a villain role for the first time in his career. Sundar C,Honey Rose Varghese and Imman Annachi play other characters in this investigative thriller produced by Khushbu Sundar and directed by Badri Venkatesh.
